La Isla Vulpes, Part TwoI must have been out for some time. When I finally opened my eyes, it was pitch black inside the old plane and there were little streams of water making their way down the walls of the rusty fuselage. I assumed that the storm had lasted for more than 6 hours because all the lights were out (so the backup batteries must have died). I couldn't see anything and I wasn't really even sure what had happened. After a few minutes, I began to feel more alert. In fact, I felt unusually alert and quickly turned around to look behind me. I could see the faint outline of a tail swishing back and forth in the near-darkness and I assumed that Nairobi must hLa Isla Vulpes, Part Two

La Isla Vulpes, Part ThreeAfter the scene in the cargo hold, Nairobi and I no longer argued. In fact, we got along exceptionally well. For the next few days, I carefully went about the plane, collecting all traces of my research. In cleaning the plane (the first time it had been cleaned since the 1970's), I found the suitcase I had brought with me on the flight. It was still sealed, and the lock was jammed, so I was forced to break it. When I saw the contents of the suitcase, my heart stopped for a moment.La Isla Vulpes, Part Three

He was tall, unusually so, and his rough personality was iconified by two cold, beady blue eyes. It was almost morbidly comical to see such a mean face, contorted with fear at the sight of me. I could only think of a single course of action. Nick was becoming increasingly shaky with his weapon and I knew it could go off any time, so, I slowly took a step back and crouched down on my stomach. I looked at him and tried to appear as innocent as possible. No dice.La Isla Vulpes, Part Four

La Isla Vulpes, Part FiveI just sat there, and stared at Nairobi for a moment. I should have known that he would pull something like he did and I could scarcely live with myself, having allowed him to make such a perilous decision. Nairobi was all I had left of the longest part of my life, which I now knew to have a span of 30 years (from my conversation with Captain Arik). 30 years... I kept repeating to myself. I had spent exactly three decades alone on La Isla. I wish I could adequately describe what it was like to be so alone... so alone that I could forget the details of my past. It became so simple to cut and paste away the parts of my life that hauLa Isla Vulpes, Part Five

Love that lives in the heart cannot be so easily terminated by time. Even though the encounter is brief its impression shall last a lifetime. No one can change the direction of love that lives in the heart. If you have loved that in itself is the answer.
